Hello my name is Ian Clark aka TheHumanPassport, from being that little kid in the early 80s till now all I wanted to do is travel  so I put this travel guide together to showcase my photography but also share information about all the destinations I've visited to hopefully help you plan your next trip.

Welcome to Akaroa New Zealand, located halfway down the east coast of the South Island it is the place dreams and postcards are made from. You will find art and crafts stores, cafes and restaurants lining the main street with winery's dotted around the hills.

When I visit Akaroa, I love walking up to the lighthouse situated on cemetery point. The lighthouse was first built on the rugged headland at the entrance to Akaroa Harbour in 1878. In 1977 a new lighthouse was placed at the headland and this one was moved to cemetery point in the town of Akaroa.

There is a lot of great outdoor activities in Akaroa I recommend Black Cat Cruises if you want to get out on the water or swim with dolphins in the wild. If your more of a Wine Lover there are some great wineries make sure you check out Takamatua Valley Vineyards who offer winery tours and tastings by appointment of their amazing line of age worthy wines.

The best time to visit Akaroa in New Zealand is in the summertime, when you will have a pleasant temperature and limited rainfall. The highest average temperature in Akaroa is 21°C/70f. And the closest airport is Christchurch International Airport with flights internationally and also domestically in New Zealand.

Thank you for checking out Akaroa New Zealand with me. Stay tuned for my next travel write up on the Epic and Beautiful Milford Sounds of New Zealand also don't forget to check out my galleries on this website and follow me on instagram THEHUMANPASSPORT
